Birmingham City Football Club recently donated a number of tickets to our foster families for them to attend The Vertu Trophy Final at Wembley. This was an amazing opportunity for a number of our foster children to see The Blues play Peterborough in the final.
Matt, pictured, is one of our foster carers who attended with his foster child and has written the following about their experience:
“My little man and I got up and left for Wembley wearing Blue and very excited to see Birmingham City Football Club play Peterborough.
We arrived at Wembley in high spirits and joined the crowds, loving the atmosphere and banter between fans, stewards, police and shop staff.
My little man had never been to Wembley so the crowds, noise and size were all new to him. He loved it; speaking to people wearing scarves and trying the different foods on offer. His face when we entered the stadium was precious, it was a mix of amazement and excitement. We watched the game and joined in with the songs, balloons, and the National Anthem.
On the train on the way back my wee man was getting tired but he kept going and again spent time listening and chatting with fans and the public. In the car from the station he relived the whole thing again, and again… and again! Needless to say he slept well that night!”
A huge thank you to Birmingham City Football Club for their generosity, and making this special day possible for so many of our children in care.
